2.  Be the Storyteller

If you are interested in telling one of your stories at our event you can learn more and pitch your story by clicking the link below.
Pitch Your Story
Make sure to pitch your story by April 23!
We will only have time for 20 storytellers at our event, so wow us with your pitch and give us what you've got!

3.  Be Prepared

If you've got a story to tell (and we all do!), but the thought of telling that story in front of a live audience makes you want to curl up in a fetal position and suck your toes, then help is on the way. We have two optional workshops designed to help you structure and tell your story in the most effective way with the least amount of angst.

Optional Workshops: Discovering Your Story and Becoming a Storyteller
April 9 & 23

Ukraine Benefit Information:

Feeling powerless to help? Need to know a way to support Ukraine and its people? Want to know a trusted way to donate?

Over the past few weeks, we've been considering how to respond to the war in Ukraine. Whenever there is a global cause, whether it's a natural disaster or war,  many people give to help; however, a few months to a year later those funds are often gone even as the needs of those affected have grown. So an organization called Perception Funding (https://www.perceptionfunding.org/) has taken some time to find organizations we already know and trust who are serving those in need in Ukraine and who will continue to serve there for years to come.

Here are three ways IPA's SpokenStorySlamKC event is planning to partner with Perception Funding to help support Ukrainians in their time of need.

1. Perception Funding partners with the largest and oldest church denomination in Belgium, Vianova. They have a sister church in Kiev, Ukraine which is coordinating with the Humanitarian Aid Association of Ukraine. Vianova has taken large truckloads of food, clothing, bedding, toiletries, and medical supplies to their sister church in Kiev. Many future trips are in the works.

2. The Church of God seminary in Germany has seven churches in Ukraine. Every day volunteers from the seminary drive to Ukraine with their cars filled with food, water, clothes and medical supplies, delivering it all to one of the seven remaining churches and then returning to Germany with a car full of refugees. On March 10th they brought 29 refugees to Germany. This operation will continue every day as long as the borders remain open.

3. Kansas City is headquarters to an organization called Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This March FCA was hosting a conference with 30 of their staff and families from Ukraine when the war began. The Ukrainians have been unable to return. Perception Funding hopes to provide housing, transportation, and living expenses.

Perception Funding's goal is to raise $30,000 and divide it among the three initiatives mentioned above.

Imago Arts would like to join them.

Would you help? It could make a great story...

A COVID Community Storytelling Project

Auditions in January

Premiere in April of 2023!

Due to the surges of coronavirus variants, it is with great regret that we thought it best to yet again

postpone auditions and performance dates for this original work.

Believing it will take more than a vaccine, a negative test, or a normal temperature to heal from our collective COVID-19 pandemic experiences and convinced that story is a crucial part of the healing process, IPA is excited to bring you our community storytelling project! This original work is currently in development and will be based on the stories you tell us. These stories will be curated and edited by IPA’s artistic director, Bobbie Jeffrey. The project welcomes director Ana Sharp Williamson to the IPA stage.
