Little Artists I

Ages:  4-6 yrs

This class will provide opportunities for kids to flex their creativity while learning a little art history, some art fundamentals, and developing their fine motor skills. Every month we will focus on a different art concept or famous artist and work on 2 art projects that further explore them. All art materials for the class are included. At the end of each semester the students will have the opportunity to display their masterpieces to family and friends at Imago's production before the show and during intermission.

All materials provided.
Semester Fee:

if paid by Jan 3
$150 if paid in 3 installments of $50; due on 1/3, 2/21, and 3/21

Imagin-Artists

Ages: 12 to High School

Whether you are new to artwork or have experience under your belt this class is meant to meet you where you are and help you move forward on your journey!  Each month we’ll highlight an element or principle of art and study how it was used in famous artwork. Then we’ll create a black and white drawing and a colored painting to practice what you’ve learned or improve your mastery of the subject. There will be an opportunity to exhibit your work at Imago's productions before the shows and during intermissions. Art supply lists will be provided each semester.

Imagin-Artists Required Materials List
Drawing portion:
  • Compressed charcoal
  • Kneadable eraser
  • Charcoal Pencil
  • Graphite Drawing Pencils 2B/4B
  • Pink Eraser
  • Pencil Sharpener
  • Blender (a paper stick with tapered end that helps blur sharp lines)
  • (many of these items come in a pre-assembled drawing pencil/charcoal pack)
  • 9x12 Sketchbook
Painting portion:
  • Canvas: medium-size of your choice (no smaller than 9x12 – no bigger than 18x24)
  • Acrylic brushes (purchase a ready-made set, or individually try to get at least size 0, size 6, size 10)
  • Acrylic paint- (Can purchase a ready-made basic set or individually)
    • Cadmium red
    • Cadmium yellow
    • Phthalo Blue
    • Ultramarine Blue
    • Burnt Umber
    • Titanium White
    • Ivory Black
  • Large Paint Palette (or 9’ disposable plates work too)
  • Rag (for drying /wiping brushes)
  • Paint water container (for cleaning brushes)
  • Clothing protection (Apron/Smock/old XL t-shirt)
 
Note: For students with no art supplies already accumulated, buying this list in student-grade art supplies will be roughly a $75 investment in materials. Not all the paint will be used up in a 4-week class. Dorothy's intent is to give participants a good starting point in their collection and enable them to have all they need to practice and explore further concepts when they are also outside of class. If this is prohibitive, we encourage you to apply for scholarships by clicking the link below.

Palette and Palate

Paint, snack, and sip at Imago’s Palette and Palate! We’ll provide a creative project any skill level can tackle and all the necessary supplies. Our instructor will guide your process as you let your creative juices flow in a fun and friendly atmosphere. If you need to take a break, cheese and fruit trays will be available to replenish your creative energy and soft drinks will be available for purchase. If you prefer to relax and unwind with something different, you can BYO beverage of choice! Come one, come all! Connect with fellow creative adventurers or bring your own tribe* (this would make a great date night...nudge nudge, wink wink). Spend an evening making art and great memories!


*Families are welcomed and encouraged to come join the fun, but art difficulty level may exceed the capabilities of younger children. Age of 12 on up is strongly recommended and those under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
